Art Exchange – Giving a painting new life
Sunday, May 6, 2018
1:00 – 2:00 pm
Ages: 15 +

We’ve all been there, theres always that one painting where no matter what we do, it doesn’t seem to work.
Its either tucked away, hidden in a closet or staring at us dauntingly.
This workshop will give these paintings another chance and bring them back to life!

Bring your painting to the studio during this insightful workshop with an interesting twist!
Students will engage in an hour long workshop conversation on tips and tricks to successful pieces, how to overcome road blocks and stay inspired.
After our discussion you will be leaving with a different piece of artwork. That’s right! We will be giving our unwanted piece of art to someone else in the group, in exchange for theirs.
Students will take their “new to them” piece of work home with them and begin painting their own visions on the canvas. This painting will be yours to keep and do what you will with. You do not return the canvas to its original owner, this is your painting to keep and display as a collaboration piece.
A private facebook group will be created for everyone involved with this unique project. The group will be used as a place for us to post our process, ask one another for advice, share inspirational tips and to post the final product once complete.
Please note there is no final due date for this painting to be completed, you work at your own pace and have the opportunity to connect with other artists.

This workshop is a wonderful way to engage with other artists in the community, make new connections, learn new tips and have a new painting to proudly hang on the wall that was created with another artist.

Calling All Artists!

What is the 50/50 Art Draw? The 50/50 Art Draw is the main fundraising activity for the evening. We ask participating artists to submit works of art valued at $100. Draw Ticket holders will choose a work of art when their number is drawn. All profits from the draw will be shared equally between the artist and Artspace. In addition, artists will receive a charitable donation receipt.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the 50/50. Please note, while we do not have a maximum number of works that can be donated, we do have limited wall space. We’ll do our best to make sure we can find a place for all of the work that you donate.

Fire Sale Finale: For 40 minutes after the conclusion of the Art Draw, works in the Fire Sale will be available for the price of $80. Works that aren’t picked up during round one of the fire sale will then be offered in another round for the final price of $60. The Fire Sale is a last-chance opportunity to sell unsold pieces, please note that the Fire Sale is optional. Profits will be shared equally between the artist and Artspace.

Count Me In! If you’re interested in participating, works for the 50/50 Art Draw should be delivered to Artspace between April 10th to April 26th, 2018 during our regular hours of operation Tuesday – Friday noon – 6 pm and Saturday noon – 4 pm. Contributing Artists receive a complimentary party ticket to the 50/50 event.

All works must be ready to hang, with the artist’s name, contact information, and title on the back of the work.

More information can be found on Artspace’s website.
